CREDIT UNIONS FOR KIDS

Credit Unions for Kids is a collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues and business partners engaged in fundraising activities to benefit Children’s Miracle Network-affiliate hospitals. All money raised through Minnesota’s Credit Unions for Kids (MnCU4Kids) program supports Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, helping kids with disabilities and chronic conditions. Gillette is based in St. Paul, with clinics located around the state. Credit Unions for Kids is a national program.

Gillette Achievements & Statistics

(March 2010)

     Did you know?

  • Gillette collaborates with Regions Hospital, which provides Minnesota’s first Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, to care for the region’s most acutely injured children and teens.

  • We have the top pediatric orthopaedic program in the 5-state region, according to U.S. News & World Report, which named us one America’s Best Children’s Hospitals in 2009.
  • Since our founding, we have treated more than 130,000 children – and we never turn a child away because his or her family can’t afford to pay for treatment.

  • Our patient population has risen more than 100 percent in the last 10 years. Today, we serve more than 22,000 patients each year – that’s more than double the number of patients we served a decade ago.

  • Our Center for Cerebral Palsy is one of the largest and most respected cerebral palsy programs in the world – serving more than 3,500 patients in 2008 and caring for the world’s largest population of pediatric patients who have intrathecal baclofen pumps.

  • Our James R. Gage Center for Gait & Motion Analysis is the busiest clinical motion analysis center in the world, performing more than 600 examinations each year. In 2009, the center became the nation’s first to be certified by the Commission for Motion Laboratory Accreditation.
  • Our Mobile Outreach Clinic has saved Gillette families more than 3 million miles of travel in the last 10 years. In 2009, Mobile Outreach saved an estimated 200 metric tons of carbon emissions by reducing family mileage.

  • Our Mobile Outreach Clinic today serves more than three times the number of patients – and four times the number of clinics – than it did 12 years ago. That means thousands of patients are receiving the care and services they need in a location closer to home.
In 2009, MnCU4Kids raised more than $190,000 for Gillette. Thanks in part to your fundraising efforts, Gillette Children's has made some tremendous strides in helping its patients.
